Audits

Temporary Works Audits

Independent review of temporary works management arrangements, project records and the way procedures are being implemented.

Find gaps before they become findings

A temporary works audit examines whether the management system is suitable, understood and consistently applied. It reviews the documented procedure and the evidence generated by the project team, then tests whether responsibilities, controls and records are working in practice.

The audit can be completed for a single project, a sample of live projects or an organisation-wide improvement programme. The scope is aligned to the client’s procedure, project arrangements and relevant recommendations in BS 5975-1:2024.

Frequently asked questions

How is an audit different from an inspection?

An inspection focuses on physical works and site implementation. An audit reviews the management system: procedures, appointments, competence, design briefs, registers, design checking, permits, inspections, change control and records. Each service has a separate scope and report.

What documents do you need for an audit?

Typically the company temporary works procedure, project arrangements, appointments, register extract, sample design briefs and designs, permit and inspection records, and any recent non-conformity or action logs. We confirm the sample before the audit.

Can you audit one project or the whole organisation?

Yes. Audit types include project audits, corporate or procedure audits, pre-start readiness checks, recovery audits and follow-up verification that actions have been completed and embedded.

What do you deliver at the end of an audit?

Findings classified by significance, photographic and documentary evidence where included, a prioritised corrective-action plan, and practical recommendations. A close-out discussion with key personnel is included in the standard output.

How long does a temporary works audit take?

Duration depends on sample size, number of projects and whether a site walk is included. A single-project audit is often completed over one to two days plus reporting; larger programmes are planned and priced accordingly.
